What I Enjoy About Travelling in Kanjanaburi
Kanjanaburi is a place I enjoy returning to because every trip feels different. Some visits are spent exploring historical sites that remind us of the sacrifices made during World War II, while others are about escaping into nature along rivers, forests, and waterfalls.
The province has a slower pace compared with many destinations in Thailand. Driving through quiet countryside, staying by the river, or visiting small cafés overlooking the water makes it easy to unwind. Beyond the well-known attractions, there are many hidden temples, caves, and scenic viewpoints that encourage you to explore a little further each time.
One of the things I appreciate most is how Kanjanaburi combines history with natural beauty. It is a destination where you can reflect on the past in the morning, enjoy mountain scenery in the afternoon, and finish the day watching the sunset along the River Kwai.
Where to Visit
Muang Kan is now much easier to visit from Bangkok. With improved highways, the journey has been shortened from around 2 hours to about 1 hour, making it perfect for a day trip or a relaxing weekend getaway. Once you arrive, you’ll find a mix of historic landmarks, beautiful waterfalls, riverside scenery, temples, and national parks waiting to be explored.
