RUSSIA

Echoes of Empire

Explore Russia

Russia is a country of grand architecture, rich history, and remarkable cultural heritage. Stretching across Europe and Asia, it offers everything from magnificent palaces and cathedrals to world-famous museums, elegant city squares, and vast natural landscapes. Although my journey only covered a small part of this enormous country, it gave me a glimpse into its fascinating past and impressive landmarks.

Why I Enjoy Russia

My journey to Russia was several years ago, travelling with a small group of friends on a guided tour. We visited two of the country’s most famous cities, Moscow and St. Petersburg, each offering a very different experience while sharing the same rich history and culture.

Moscow impressed me with its grand monuments, historic churches, and the iconic Red Square, while St. Petersburg felt more elegant with its canals, colourful palaces, and beautiful architecture. Walking through these cities, it was easy to see how Russia’s imperial history and cultural traditions continue to shape everyday life. Although it was a relatively short visit, it left me with many memorable experiences and photographs that still remind me of the journey.

Where to Visit

Whether you are interested in history, architecture, museums, or cultural landmarks, Russia offers many places worth exploring. Even within Moscow and St. Petersburg alone, there is enough to fill several days with iconic attractions, beautiful churches, royal palaces, public squares, and riverside walks.

My journey focused on these two historic cities, which continue to be among the country’s most visited destinations. You can explore each city in more detail through the individual guides below.
