Myanmar has always been more than just a neighbouring country to Thailand for me. During my years working for GE, I looked after Myanmar as part of my portfolio, giving me the opportunity to travel there many times and explore several cities beyond the usual business trips.
Myanmar feels like stepping into another era. Ancient temples, monasteries, colonial buildings, and traditional ways of life remain part of everyday living. While much of the world moves quickly with technology, many places here continue at their own pace, preserving a culture and history that has changed very little over generations.
What I Enjoy About Travelling in Myanmar
What I enjoy most is the sense of history that surrounds every journey. Walking through temple grounds, old cities, and local neighbourhoods often feels like looking back in time. As a Thai, it is also fascinating to see the cultural and religious connections between Myanmar and Thailand. Many traditions, Buddhist beliefs, and architectural styles remind me how closely our histories have been linked over centuries.
Beyond the famous landmarks, it is the people and slower pace of life that leave the strongest impression. Every visit offered a chance to experience a country with deep cultural roots, rich heritage, and genuine hospitality.
Myanmar has faced many challenges over the years, and tourism has become far more limited than it once was. I sincerely hope the country will one day regain stability and welcome travellers from around the world again, allowing more people to experience its remarkable history, culture, and timeless beauty.
