Explore HAIKOU, Hainan Island, China – Soak Up the Sun & Fun

I finally embarked on a long-awaited journey to Hainan Island, situated south of mainland China, to visit my grandparents’ homes. Both my maternal and paternal grandparents immigrated from Haikou to Thailand around 90 years ago when they were in their 20s. Hainan Island is not only the birthplace of the famous Hainanese Chicken Rice but also home to numerous beautiful sights and attractions.

Though my trip was primarily focused on visiting relatives, I managed to catch a glimpse of Wenchang, a charming city on the island’s east coast. There’s much more to explore in Haikou and other cities across Hainan Island, making it a perfect destination for travelers seeking a blend of history, culture, and stunning landscapes.
